This is true because that was a really a mazing lesson and she was a such remarkable teacher. Ms. Zakeya Alkumi is a really successful teacher and we were lucky to attend a model lesson with her with grade five.
The purpose of this lesson this time was showing a set of techniques to teach sight words. But but but!
It wasn't the only thing we benefit from this lesson as you will see later on.
First of all, a guest from outside the room came and carried the repeated text which was about turtles.That was a creative idea to warm the students up. Then they start to read , clarify meanings and
introduce the mentioned sight words.
The students built up sentences in the correct order. The students later on practice writing the sight words by sands which is called a Tactile activity. Then teacher Zakeya asked students to practice the different strategies to teach sight words which are;
- see and say
- spell reading
- arm tapping
- air writing
- table writing
the This all was full of fun and learning.
Then at the end of the lesson , students showed their understanding by playing six different games. The games are memory game, Dominoes, go fishing, fly swat, snakes and ladders , catch a fish.

What was awesome and unforgettable in her lesson , the group reinforcement as you will see in the following photo. Students should collect apples, flowers, ice creams or build a house . This was all full of sight words as a revision and the group should write sentences using their sight words to gain the presents.
This was very interesting and students was excited to finish all tasks.
