One of the excellent model lessons, I have ever attended was ( a new baby ) story which was presented by the creative teacher Muna Alsaidi. This was a model lesson in shared reading.
The shared reading was introduced in two lessons in grade one. The teacher started the lesson by talking about the cover page and the title by using a creative pointer as in the photo. Students started to think , guess and imagine.
Then the teacher started to read the story using different intonation as the characters changed. She used realia and gestures to support understanding.
Ms. Muna was so closed to students and the seating helped them to enjoy the story more.
The the teacher started to use flash cards and word cards and asked students to match them. Students was excited to participate and take the presents.
The teacher used different games and strategies to support students learning and to make the lesson more interesting , which are:
- what is missing game
- matching game
- point to strategy
- close your eyes, touch and guess strategy
- What is it strategy
what was so unique in Muna's lesson that students was able to performs the story in a scketch as a productive task. It was very obvious that she achieved the objectives of this lesson through students using the language taught in the story. Then she gives students a challenging tasks and challenge students whether to take the yellow task which is matching pictures to words or matching sentences to pictures!
Thats was awesome and she rewards all of them but with different encouragements.
Thanks a lot miss Muna for your great efforts.
